Clean Your House Up After the Holidays with a Chimney Cleaning

Clean Your House Up After the Holidays with a Chimney Cleaning

It takes weeks of baking, decorating, and gift buying to prepare for the Christmas season and in a blink of an eye, it seems like the holidays have come and gone. However, the Christmas memories you made this year will last forever. What special things did you do with your family this Christmas that you will always remember? If you have a fireplace, it was probably the backdrop for many of this year’s special memories. Whether it’s singing carols around the hearth or telling stories with loved ones around a cheerful fire, many of our favorite Christmas traditions revolve around the fireplace. Holiday traditions are a wonderful thing and, of course, you want to keep these traditions. Make sure your chimney is around for Christmases to come with a chimney cleaning.

Redecorating

Once the holiday season is over, it’s time to take down and put away your Christmas decorations until next year. This is also true for any Christmas decorating you did around your hearth and on your fireplace mantle. When you get all of your decorations down, that is a great time to get your chimney cleaned. When we clean your chimney, we’ll generally move any decorations and items that are in our work area. This is for our safety and the safety of your decor as well. Since you have to take your decorations down anyways, it works well to get your chimney swept before you redecorate again.

We would also like to remind you that when you are cleaning up your home for Christmas, it is important that you do not use your fireplace to dispose on any of your holiday decorations, not even your Christmas tree. Even though a Christmas tree is mostly wood, it hasn’t been properly seasoned and the smoke and gases that would be produced from burning a Christmas tree are not good for your chimney flue. There are other, better, ways to recycle your Christmas tree.

New Year, Clean Chimney

The New Year is a time for setting goals and clean slates. Wouldn’t you like to start the New Year with a nice clean chimney as well? The Chimney Safety Institute of America suggests having your chimney inspected once a year. [ There is no better way to remember to get your annual inspection then scheduling it at the beginning of the year. Also, since most people schedule their inspections in the spring, you’ll beat the springtime rush.

At TN Chimney & Home, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to working with you in 2018! If you would like a post-Christmas chimney cleaning, call us today at (865) 922-2262, or go to our scheduling page today to set up an appointment.
